3. Why we use your data and our legal basis

Every use of your data rests on a legal basis under Article 6 of the GDPR.

Handling your booking, sending tickets, event details and practical updates: Contract (Art. 6.1.b)

Taking payment, issuing receipts, refunds: Contract (Art. 6.1.b)

Keeping accounting records: Legal obligation under the Swedish Bookkeeping Act (Art. 6.1.c)

Catering for dietary needs and allergies: Your explicit consent (Art. 9.2.a), which you can withdraw at any time

Sending our newsletter and event announcements: Consent (Art. 6.1.a); unsubscribe any time via the link in every email

Group photos and general event photos for our website and social media: Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f), with the right to opt out (see section 4)

Close-up photos or video where you are the focus, used in marketing or advertising: Consent (Art. 6.1.a)

Answering your questions and feedback: Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f)

Improving our website and events, basic statistics: Consent via cookie settings, or legitimate interest for anonymous data

Establishing or defending legal claims: Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f)

Our legitimate interests are running a small events business, showing what our events are like, and keeping our community safe and pleasant. We weigh these against your rights and do not use your data in ways you would not reasonably expect.

4. Photos, video and social media

We take photos and short videos at our events to share the atmosphere on our website, Instagram and other social media. You are always free to say no.

How it works

Each event description and booking confirmation tells guests that photos may be taken.

At the start of each event, the host explains how to opt out. Just tell the host, or wear the marker provided, and we will keep you out of shots.

General photos (the table, the room, hands at work, people seen from a distance or from behind) are shared on the basis of our legitimate interest.

Photos or video where you are clearly the focus, and any image used in paid advertising, are only published with your consent. This also follows the Swedish Act on Names and Images in Advertising (1978:800).

We never tag you or name you in a post without your permission.

We do not post images of anyone who appears to be under 18.

Changing your mind

If you see an image of yourself that you would like removed, email info@theslowsocialclub.com or send us a direct message on Instagram. We will remove it from our website and our own social media accounts within 7 days. We cannot control copies that others have already shared or saved, but we will help where we reasonably can.

Photos taken by other guests

Guests may take their own photos. These are their responsibility, not ours. We ask everyone to respect each other’s wishes and not to post others without asking. If you tag us in a post, we may reshare it with credit.

Social media platforms

When you follow, message or tag us on Instagram or other platforms, the platform (for example Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd) also processes your data under its own privacy policy. For our Instagram page insights, we and Meta are joint controllers. Meta is responsible for most of that processing and for answering requests about it.
